# Evan McKnight — public guide for AI assistants Canonical page: https://emcknight.me/agents/ I’m Evan McKnight. I build websites, connect systems, and help people make everyday work easier. Based in Escanaba, Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula. ## Public pages - [Home](https://emcknight.me/): Evan McKnight’s public portfolio and introduction. - [About](https://emcknight.me/about/): Background, interests, and community work. - [Work](https://emcknight.me/work/): Selected projects, involvement, and project status. - [Experience](https://emcknight.me/experience/): Career background and previous roles. - [Skills](https://emcknight.me/skills/): Websites, connected systems, automation, and operations. - [Contact](https://emcknight.me/contact/): Email, verified contact forms, and intro requests. - [Site guide](https://emcknight.me/help/): Navigation, the site assistant, and conversation retention. - [Themes](https://emcknight.me/themes/): Two visual styles containing the same information. - [For AI assistants](https://emcknight.me/agents/): Public sources and guidance for assisted browsing. ## Find and cite public information Read the public pages without signing in or running JavaScript. The plain-text index and Markdown guide link to canonical pages; the expanded reference includes the same project, experience, and skills data used by the portfolio. Cite the relevant public page when answering. Project descriptions explain Evan’s involvement and the status shown in the portfolio; they are not guarantees of current service availability. Confirm availability, pricing, and commitments directly with Evan. Related websites include 906Online at https://906online.com/ and 906.sh at https://906.sh/. Use each website’s current public pages for its service descriptions and availability. This portfolio describes Evan’s involvement in those projects. ## Contact and intro requests Use the Contact page to send a note or request an intro, or use the published email address evan@906.sh. Prepare a draft for the visitor to review. Obtain the visitor’s approval before sending a message, starting email verification, or submitting an intro request. The contact form requires email verification. Leave verification and any sign-in challenge to the person who controls the account. An intro request is a request, not a confirmed appointment. Report only the outcome actually shown by the site. Verified form requests are retained for up to 180 days. Unverified details are removed within 24 hours after verification expires or a request is canceled. Form details are not sent to analytics. ## Site assistant and private areas The “Ask about Evan” assistant helps visitors explore this portfolio. Its page commands work even when chat is unavailable. Conversations are saved automatically on Evan’s server for private admin review and deleted after 30 days. Avoid sensitive personal information; “New chat” clears the visible conversation without deleting the retained server record. These documents provide public reading and browser guidance. They do not advertise a public API, MCP server, or autonomous booking interface. Use the visible contact workflow for submissions. Admin pages, conversations, verification codes, account details, and private project content are outside this public guide. Public reading access does not grant access to those areas or permission to submit forms on someone’s behalf. ## Machine-readable resources - [LLM index](https://emcknight.me/llms.txt) - [Expanded public reference](https://emcknight.me/llms-full.txt) - [Sitemap](https://emcknight.me/sitemap.xml) The llms.txt files are optional discovery aids. They do not replace access controls, robots.txt, or the canonical public pages. ## Selected projects Source: https://emcknight.me/work/ ### 906Online Portfolio: https://emcknight.me/work/#906online Project website: https://906online.com/ Evan’s involvement: Product direction · development and operations Read the project website for its current services and availability. ### 906.sh Portfolio: https://emcknight.me/work/#906 Project website: https://906.sh/ Evan’s involvement: Founder · development and operations Read the project website for its current services and availability. ### 906 Story Studio Portfolio: https://emcknight.me/work/#story-studio Project website: https://studio.906online.com/ Type: Cloud creative tools · maintained Freecut fork Evan’s involvement: Product direction · cloud integration · operations Status shown in the portfolio: Hosted team studio, with access limited to approved accounts. 906 Story Studio is my heavily modified fork of Freecut, adapted for cloud hosting and team collaboration. It brings browser-based video editing together with shared footage, versioned scripts, and a private workspace for the people making the story. The work extends beyond hosting an editor: projects and media persist on the server, teammates have defined roles, and the timeline uses an editing lease so one person’s changes do not overwrite another’s. #### An open-source editor, adapted for the cloud Freecut provides the editing foundation. My fork adds the hosted workspace around it: persistent projects and media, resumable uploads, shared materials, and the connections between planning a story and editing it. Keeping the upstream history makes that foundation and the changes built on it clear. #### Collaboration with clear ownership Teammates can contribute footage, develop scripts, leave feedback, and work within owner, editor, contributor, or viewer roles. Saved scripts retain revisions and detect conflicting changes. A renewable editing lease gives one teammate control of the timeline at a time, providing a clear handoff between editors. #### Access is part of the design The studio connects to our forked and modified Logto identity service through OpenID Connect (OIDC). Sign-in uses Authorization Code with PKCE, while application admission, mandatory multi-factor authentication, and project membership checks control who can get in and what they can do. Private media, revocable access, session revalidation, and upload limits are built into the hosted workflow. ### Fiend Portfolio: https://emcknight.me/work/#fiend Project website: https://fiend.video/ Type: Creator tools · ongoing development Evan’s involvement: Product direction · design review · collaborative development Status shown in the portfolio: Public creator site, with publishing and overlay studio development ongoing. I help shape Fiend, a creator website and studio with themed publishing tools, structured pages, and editable stream overlays. It brings the website and the tools behind a stream into one project. The studio separates drafts and previews from publication. My work on its direction focuses on making editing feel coherent, from parent pages and subpages to the motion and layout of overlays. #### One place to watch and connect The public Fiend site brings together a featured video, creator information, channel links, and a Discord contact. Its cinematic visual identity carries across those sections. The featured YouTube player waits for a visitor to press play before loading, keeping that external interaction deliberate. #### The editing experience matters too Behind the public site, the project includes a Laravel and Filament publishing system with structured pages, subpages, shared media, and a visual page editor. Drafts and previews are separated from publication so the editing process has a clear path to a public result. These studio features are part of the project source; the screenshots here show the public creator site. #### A consistent language for motion My direction and design review connect the publishing experience with the stream-overlay editor: how layouts, themes, and motion behave in the editor and its preview. The goal is a coherent creative workflow. Development is ongoing, and a working editor preview is a separate milestone from an authenticated broadcast or provider integration. ### WARDOGS.LOL Portfolio: https://emcknight.me/work/#wardogs Project website: https://wardogs.lol/ Type: Independent gaming community Evan’s involvement: Product direction · design review · collaborative development Status shown in the portfolio: Public community homepage, with player and squad workflows under development. I help shape WARDOGS.LOL, an independent gaming community built around creator clips, player discovery, and finding a squad. It connects my interest in games and online communities with the kind of web work I do today. The project brings together community content, clan recruitment, rosters, and player profiles. It draws on adapted open-source components and collaborative development; it is an independent community project, not the game itself. #### Give the community a useful next step The public homepage puts watching clips, finding people, and bringing a Discord community close together. Those actions reflect the project’s direction: help a visitor move from discovering a highlight to finding people to play with. Community dispatches provide another way to publish updates. #### Different ways to belong The product distinguishes a temporary squad or looking-for-group session from a lasting clan. Project source and planning cover clan discovery, recruitment, rosters, player profiles, and member handoffs. That distinction matters: finding people for tonight and building a regular crew are related needs with different workflows. #### Build on what already works The project uses Angular and adapted open-source components alongside collaborative development. My involvement is in product direction, design review, and shaping how the parts connect. WARDOGS.LOL is an independent community project and is not affiliated with BULKHEAD or its WARDOGS game. The public homepage is shown here; community workflows continue to develop. ## Experience Source: https://emcknight.me/experience/ ### MDSCAA — In Home Services Program Manager 2024–present Joined in reception in 2024; moved into program management in April 2025.
